Facts about Pluto

1. Pluto's initial location was predicted by Percival Lowell in 1915 in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune.

2. Pluto is 5.9 billion km (3.7 billion miles) from sun.

3. Pluto has five moons namely Charon, Hydra, Nix, Kerberos and Styx.

4. Pluto has a eccentric and inclined orbit.

5. New Horizons was launched in 2006 and flew by Pluto on the 14th July, 2015.

6. When Pluto elliptical orbit takes it closer to the Sun, it's surface ice thaws and forms a thin atmosphere primarily of nitrogen which slowly escapes the planet.

7. When Pluto travels away from the Sun the atmosphere than freezes back to it's solid state.
