Could Naked Singularity Exists?

 Singularity or Gravitational singularity is the point in spacetime where density becomes infinity, it means that at that location Gravitational field would become infinite.



According to general relativity every black hole must have a singularity at their centre.

In the case of black holes, these singularities are surrounded by event horizons.

At the Event horizon, Gravitational force of singularity is so high that even light cannot escape.

But can these singularities exist without black hole?

It was believed for a long time that general relativity hides every singularity behind event horizon making naked singularities impossible. But computer stimulation reveal that general relativity might allow for “naked singularity" highly 'improbable' but not 'impossible'.

What makes this important ?

Since naked singularities are not covered by the event horizon, this makes them observable. This makes it possible to observe the collapse of an object to infinite density.

As general relativity breaks out at the singularity, these observable “naked singularities” can pave a way for better and improved theory. However, we haven't observed any naked Singularity in the future yet.
