See the triangle between the Moon,Venus and Beehive star cluster.

On Monday Sept 14, 2020 a beautiful celestial site will attract a lot of attention for early risers. A few hours before sunrise, low above the east-northeast horizon everyone will see a slender silver of a waning crescent Moon. And located to it's left everyone will see a dazzling, silvery - white star with steady glow.

That will be planet Venus. It will glow brighter than the brightest star Sirius which is 142.8 million kilometers away from Earth.

It is on Monday morning that the two brightest objects in the night sky the moon and the Venus will be separated by 5 degrees. It will be more attractive because of the shine of the Earth where the unilluminated portion of the moon will seem to glow dimly with an eerie blue - grey light.

The moon will only 12% illuminated by the sun; a narrow yellow - white contrasting with the bue-grey portion of the rest of the lunar disk giving it a strike three dimensional appearance, especially in binoculars.

By the end of the month the Venus will have descended to 5 degrees of the bright star Regulus which it will pass very close to on October 3, 2020.
