What is Higgs Boson?

Higgs Boson is an elementary particle in the standard model of particle physics, produced by the quantum excitation of the Higgs Field. It is physical proof of an invisible, universe - wide field that gave mass to all matter right after the Big Bang.

At very high energy level, the Higgs Boson can become very unstable and can even perhaps destroy the whole universe.

The Higgs is a part of many theoretical equations underpinning Scientist's understanding of how the world came into being. If it doesn't exist, then those theories would need to be fundamentally overhauled.

It is referred as “God Particle" after Nobel prize winning physicist Leon Lederman called it as the “Goddamn Particle”, inorder to poke fun at how difficult it was to detect the particles.
