DIAMOND PLANET

Diamond is one of the most precious thing on the Earth. It is very attractive and expensive. But did you know that there is a planet which is fully made up of pure Diamonds.

55 cancri e is the name of the planet which is fully made up of Diamonds. The planet is also called as Super Earth and is twice the size of the Earth. It was discovered in 2004 around a nearby star 55 cancri in our own milky way galaxy.

Scientist after studying it's rock had stated that it is mainly composed of carbon in the form of Diamonds and Graphite. It also contains Iron, silicon carbide and potentially sillicates. At least a third of the planet's mass is likely to be pure Diamonds.

55 cancri e one of the five plants encircling a sun like star called as 55 cancri, which lies about 40 light years away from our Earth in cancer constellation. The star is so close it is visible to the naked eye in the night sky in cancer constellation which can be located in Northern Hemisphere during Autumn season. 

FACTS ABOUT THE DIAMOND PLANET:

1. The planet is extremely close to the host star (sun) and makes complete revolution around it's star in 18 Earth hours means one year is equal to 18 Earth hours on 55 cancri e

2. It is somewhat similar to Neptune.

3. It is believed that much of the carbon on the planet was in the form of Diamonds because of the enormous pressure and the temperature of the interior of the planet.

4. It is made up of carbon and most of this carbon is in the form of Diamonds.

5. There is no confirmation of the presence of atmosphere on the planet.
