Deimos second moon of the mars

Deimos is smaller and the outermost of the two natural satellites of planet mars the other being Phobos. Deimos has a mean radius of 6.2 km (3.9mi) and takes 30.3 hours to orbit mars. It is 23,460km (14,580mi) far from mars, much further than other moon, Phobos.

Facts about the Deimos:

1. It is composed of rock rich in carbonaceous material, much like c-type asteroid and carbonaceous chondroitin meteorite.

2. Escape velocity from Deimos is 5.6 m/s. The apparent magnitude of Deimos is 12.45.

3. Deimos is possibly an asteroid that was perturbed by Jupiter into an orbit that allowed it to be captured by mass, though this hypothesis is still controversial and disputed.

4. It roses in East and sets in West and it's sun synodic orbit period is about 30.4 hours.

5. It's orbit is slowly getting large because it's far enough and away from mars and because of tidal acceleration. It is expected to eventually escape Mars's gravity.
